Episode 500 looks back at all of it. It's incredibly long at 150 minutes, but I wouldn't cut a thing. It's just that good. I hope you enjoy it.
500 isn't all that's been going on. Hippo's visiting, and we've done two shoots, see previous blog post. For that reason, I haven't yet done anything with the nominations I asked you to make. Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten.
Also, we've been falling behind on promos. That'll change, too.

@Shredder: Dude, you scared the crap out of me, but I looked at Episode 2 on my computer using VLC and it played just fine. What player are you using? Is it possible I uploaded the wrong fucking file? Can you tell me what's at the beginning and end of the clip you purchased?

Red, i just tried it with VLC and it plays just fine. strange... i normally use Windows media player, and it played the first clip just fine, and every other clip i've purchased through the yrs never had a problem.

Shredder, does the standard ending ("not for sale or distribution to minors" show at the end? Does the beginning go straight to Tobi, or does an intro come first? Just want to confirm that the right version was uploaded. There were earlier glitchy versions that had slightly different things at the start and end.

Okay, that's as it should be. They all should have the disclaimer at the end, but only part 1 should have the intro. Earlier versions were glitchy but also had the wrong bumpers. Glad to hear the right version was uploaded, and this was just an example of Microsoft still not getting H.264 right after ten goddamned years.

ReplyDeleteBut I'm a bit concerned that we've received almost no feedback about Episode 500, so I want to emphasize: we welcome all sorts of commeents, even critical ones, especially critical ones. 500 was very different from everything else we've done so it's only natural that some people won't like it, but that doesn't mean we don't want to hear from you.
I'm going to venture a guess and say the lack of feedback is due to Episode 500 being too pricey at over $45.

ReplyDeleteIn my case, I'm one of your small handful of regulars who's here to see the guys play -- and, more specifically, to see them lose and see them punished. Episode 500 sounds like an impressive effort and if I were into girls losing, I would definitely buy it, but I'm one of your niche customers, I'm afraid. From the description, it didn't sound like there were guys in it, much less guys losing. That's okay, I know not every clip will be for me. I come back every week and read the descriptions and buy when they seem suitable. I appreciate all you do.

ReplyDeleteI've been reading the blog and purchasing clips for quite some time now, I buy what interests me or I think will interest me. I bought 500 and, it was one of the few clips I watched the entire way through the first time, I enjoyed some of the background you provided on lostbets and the background on certain players and groups of players and some of the clips you showed were from scenes I did not purchase, so that was good also. While I enjoyed 500, I think the thing disappoints (maybe a strong word, but I think it fits) me is the fact that I probably won't watch it very often, if ever again, unlike some of the weekly clips. The cost was not a big deal to me, unlike it may be to some of your other viewers, but money is money, I still do not like to spend it needlessly. Overall, a good clip that I enjoyed, and while the price was not a roadblock to me purchasing it, I still thought it was a little spendy, just for the fact that I probably will not watch it very often. I know you can't work for free, editing takes time and time is money, but it seems there may have been a way to make it more cost effective. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next 500. Thanks.

Even though I have most of your clips, it was good to see the compendium and the parts I had not seen. Well done to all involved! My only negative comment on this mammoth effort on your part is that there was rather a lot of Bex. She is not one of my favourites, though I am aware that she is very popular, and I would have preferred to see more of the time given over to some of the other girls. This is, for you, the risk you take when you put so many of your eggs onto one basket: there is nobody who is universally popular and you cannot keep all of us totally happy.
This is, as I said, a small criticism of an otherwise enjoyable production. I am looking forward to many more in the years ahead.

I agree with mismanager, I bought the clips and did not really mind the price. I my not even watch it again, Because of Tobi/Bex. Because for me she is a turn off, because i do not like "curvy" females.

ReplyDeleteCertainly Tobi doesn't have universal appeal, but who does? She's one of my personal favorites, though. That's partly because I know her in real life and I just think she's awesome. She is a bit older than our average player, and while I'd love to do perverted things to her body, it wouldn't be at the very top of the smoking-hot list. (Goddamn it. She's probably going to read that and have her feelings hurt. This always happens whenever I say anything even in the least bit critical of a player.) But give me a girl whose body isn't the pinnacle of perfection, as long as she's fun and extroverted, like Tobi. As long as she really gets into the competitive spirit of the games, hates to lose, loves to win, and is great at both taking and meting out punishment, like Tobi. I'll take a girl like that over an angelic beauty who's quiet and boring any day.
Eh, cancel that. They're both good. I'll take either one cheerfully. In any case, this is my personal opinion and nothing more. Your tastes may (and probably will) vary, and that's fine. That's why I aim for variety. I don't like everything I shoot either.
I didn't mean for the Tobi parts of 500 to be as long as they were. The individual segments were supposed to be shorter, but some turned out to go on for quite awhile. And we didn't mind, because those long segments were pretty worthwhile. If there had been less Tobi, 500 probably would just have been shorter. We'd already pretty much laid out what bits were going where by the time Tobi showed up to shoot.

We have a product in the UK called Marmite (haven't a clue if you have it in US) which is advertised as you love it or hate it, you are never indifferent to it. My friends and I are very much of the latter opinion, sorry but we feel she is a show off and a loud mouth who spoils every game she is in. Shame really.
