I want to talk a bit about camera angles.  You may have noticed that we often don’t have angles as dramatic as what you’d see in a professional porno. There's a simple reason for this: we don't cut. We keep everything as genuine as possible. Neither is true -- at all -- of a pro porn shoot.

Next time you’re watching a nice nice pro BJ scene, keep an eye on the shots. Ask yourself: where is the guy with the camera? Often you’ll realize that he's have to be visible from other angles, but he’s nowhere to be seen. That’s because pro scenes are anything but candid. They're carefully scripted, and there are multiple takes of the same scene from different angles.

Sorry if I've ruined professional porn for you, but it's true. Because we don't do that, we're much more genuine, but we can't film anywhere we'd be in the way of other cameras, unless we're 100% certain that at least one other camera will get a good shot. We frequently can't get the nice explicit closeup.

One way to fix this is to give the winner a camera, so they can get in there and get those close-ups for us. The footage we've gotten from them has definitely been of mixed quality, but it's been getting better with time as we've gotten better at giving instructions to the players. Our current spiel for amateur women is:

• Don't point the camera at us. You'd be surprised how much footage is unusable because the crew is right there in the background.
• Don't point the camera at the lights.
• Always hold the camera in landscape orientation. Say no to VVS!
• Don't use the camera's zoom, If you want to see something up close, get closer.
• Don't move too quickly. Once you've found a good shot, stick with it for at least five seconds before looking for another.

This is a really roundabout, long-winded way of saying that I think the winner in 587 did a pretty decent job. She got some great views from nice and close. Hopefully, the quality will continue to improve.

I didn't really want to publish Episode 584 but I'm doing it because of popular demand. It stars Addie, Ashley, Conor, Kylie, Mouna. Richard, and Selah, which is admittedly an all-star cast, full of favorites we haven't seen in awhile and will probably never see again. My memory of this game, though, is that it wasn't very good. But my memory about these things has been wrong before, so we'll see.

It was the best of POVs, it was the worst of POVs

Fans of the POVs have been disappointed lately, since there hasn't been a new one in quite awhile. Well, this Wednesday I'm finally publishing new one, and I think you're gonna like it. In my opinion, it's the worst POV I've ever done, yup. But it's also the best. By a lot, I think.

It's the worst in terms of technical quality. A number of the cameras (including the one your opponent was looking directly at) just flat-out didn't work, and the ones that remained weren't our best cameras. But IMO in terms of content, it's the best (or at least one of the best) POVs to date. If you like ENF, you'll love this one. If you like forced masturbation, you'll love this one. If you like JOI, you'll love this one.

Unlike the regular episodes, which are mostly candid and real, the POVs can't be real in the same way. Usually, I have the girls ad-lib their games against their nonexistent opponents. Some of the girls are really good at this, some aren't, but  there are things you just can't get without a real script. I haven't done a fully-scripted production since Episode 017. (That remains one of my best-selling episodes, even though it makes me embarrassed to watch it today,) Well, I wrote a script for this one, and it's pretty good, if I do say so myself.

In the scenario, you're studying for your Anatomy and Physiology final, when Cyndi comes in. She's studying for the same exam and is having trouble with the unit on the male reproductive system, and she's wondering if you'll give her a little show-n-tell to help her understand it better. You agree, as long as she'll do the same so you can get a better understanding of female anatomy, but she reacts with shock and horror. It's different for girls to expose themselves to guys, she protests, and it'd be way too embarrassing for her to let you closely examining her body. One thing leads to another, and you end up playing a game of strip poker, with the naked loser having to exhibit their body to help the winner. At first, just an anatomy lesson is at stake, but after some mutual trash-talk the stakes are raised so the loser also has to demonstrate sexual arousal, and raised again so the loser has to show what their gender's sexual climax looks like. And the game goes on.

I've made a post on this topic before but it was years ago. There are new folks here, and I doubt many of them have read the last 10 years of blog posts. Besides, part of this is relevant to today's update.

I always try to keep the games and forfeits as real as possible. I interfere in both as little as I can. I don't even like to call cut while filming, and I generally don't unless one of the players asks for it. This hardly ever happens and the large majority of our episodes are filmed in a single take.  I give the players very little direction beyond, "Have fun. Be yourself. The fans want to see your real personality, so let it show through the camera. Get into the games and try your best to win. Good luck."

I understand that in conventional porn, sex involves multiple takes from multiple angles, so the cameras can get everything and the director can position the actors just-so and get exactly the shot he wants. I never do this. All of our sex scenes are genuine, without guidance from the crew. (Admittedly, we do sometimes cut if a dude is having trouble performing and needs a little help.)

For many producers, the appearance of reality seems more important than actual reality itself. And if it's done well, I guess, the audience will never know. But I'd know, and fakeness isn't what I want to do. In a couple of my very early shoots featuring Pettles and Elora in one and Tristan and Stephanie in the other, I tried to make up a scenario to explain why the girls were playing stripping games, but I soon abandoned that and went with the truth: they're playing stripping games 'cause they're here at LostBets.com, and that's just what we do here.

Our sex scenes are definitely not as polished as the professional ones, and the participants often have a frustrating tendency to get in the way of the camera and keep us from getting a good shot. But that's the price to be paid for keeping it real. And I pay it happily.

And sometimes, if the fuckers take my advice and really do get into it, cool stuff happens. For example, in today's episode (see? I told you we'd get there) there isn't much of a role in the forfeit for the winner. She's just supposed to sit back and relax as Kevin has his way with the loser. But watching the show got her hot and bothered. She decided that she wanted her tits sucked, so she took them out and stuck them in the loser's mouth while Kevin was taking her from behind. We didn't tell her to do that, and we didn't even suggest it. She wasn't getting paid to do it, but she wanted a mouth on her nipples so she made the loser do it. These are the moments I love: when the players are really in the moment and take things to another level on their own.

So I did another couple of shoots this weekend in an effort to get more POVs. Unfortunately it didn't go very well. In fact, of about 100 shoots I've done over the years, this is the only one I'd classify as "bad". We had a number of no-shows and cancellations, and the first girl to actually turn up was, by a longshot, the worst player I've ever seen. And by "worst player", I don't mean she was bad at the games, I just mean she was a god-awful person. I don't usually like to bad-mouth my players, but in this case, I'll make an exception. Ugh. Screw you, Cocoa. I doubt I'll ever publish the crappy POVs she made for us, but if you're a fan of unintelligent SSBBWs with freakishly painted-on eyebrows, let me know.

It wasn't all a loss, though. Awhile ago, I heard from a local fan, Cal, who asked if he and his lady Marcy could play. I decided to give them a shot, and they showed up with their friend Gemma in tow. Episode 566 publishes today, meaning we're only 100 episodes away from Episode 666. I'll have to do something special for that one. Maybe have the loser sacrificed on an altar to Ba'al or something like that. While we wait for that one, Episode 566 brings back Roxy and Gracie for higher stakes than last time. I cab't help it, I've got a thing for Roxy. There's just something about smart girls I can't resist. (Oh, Isobel, how I pine for you.)

I need to extend apologies to the POV fans. Like I said awhile ago, the supply of available POVs is running very low. I was supposed to have a shoot scheduled so I could make more, but it fell through. I'm working on one now for later in May. Until then, I'm sorry to say that POV updates will be sporadic. Hopefully we can get back to regular updates soon.

Ouch

Today's update, Episode 565, is a tale of two girls. These two girls, Nettle and Endza, made the mistake of bragging to me about how much they'd dominate at Shockinaw, and how little the electric shocks the game delivers for failure would hurt them. So I decided they should maybe play something a little more challenging. Man, do I love girls who can't refuse a dare.

Still way behind in postproduction so no new previews yet, but again, light is visible at the end of the tunnel.

Party of Five

Here;s something we haven't had in awhile: a double-update weekend. For this one, both episodes feature the same fun-loving group of five, one softcore and one hardcore. The ethnically- and vertically-diverse group of Helena, Desiree, Yesenia, Cierra, and Jay square off. In Episode 563, it's a free-for-all game of Strip Freeze with three naked losers who have to bend over and take barehanded spankings from the winners. And while these five are friends, they're all gleeful at the thought of getting to spank any of the others, and none can be expected to pull their punches.

The next day, the stakes are raised in Episode 564. Jay sits out the game, instead being the game's beneficiary. The two losers of the game of Strip Rock-Paper-Scissors (king of the hill style) become Jay's playthings, with assistance from the winners. He brings his unique and creative style to the forfeit, and while the winners delight in being in charge, nobody has a bad time.

I don't have promos or even title pictures for future episodes because the queue of ready-to-publish episodes has run dry and we're back to finalizing episodes right before publication. But I do have the contents of the next few episodes laid out, so here they are, if you're curious.

Episode 565 stars Endza and Nettle playing a very unusual game of Shockinaw. Let's just say the girls don't hold the handles in their hands. Leilani was there too, but as soon as she heard what would be going on she opted out immediately. Loser finds herself getting pounded by the winner's strap-on,.

Episode 565 brings back Gracie and Roxy for their second outing. Last time, the loser got fully exposed. This time we kick it up a notch as the loser has to spread open and show us how she masturbates. Good times.

The reason(s) why the edited queue has run dry and I've been AWOL again is that Johnny and I have both been faced with extremely important tasks, and work has just had to take a back seat. From me to thee: free 3D POV

So I've disappeared for awhile. Right after promising not to do that anymore, too. But my absence hasn't been entirely unproductive: Hippo and I designed and 3D printed a rig for shooting panoramic 3D video. We've never done anything like this before, and it's still very much experimental, but I'm fairly happy with the results of our first try. I'm giving away the first POV shot with the new equipment for free, and I'd appreciate your feedback. It features new girl Avi as your boss, promising you a promotion if you beat her at a game of Strip High Card. The file is formatted for 180 degrees, side-by-side. I view the clips on an Oculus Rift, but it should work in anything that can display 3D and has a movie player. I'm pretty sure that even a Google Cardboard would work. Since this first one was free and not really part of the POV stream, we gave it episode number 0, before realizing that P3D0 might not be the best thing to include. Working on it.

Serendipity

Meet new girl Stefanie today in Episode 557. She was referred by to us by her friend Tobi, who takes her on in the first game of turned out to be a five-game shoot. Now, I wasn't planning for Tobi to be in this shoot. I love her, but I also like to shoot a lot of variety, and we've seen an awful lot of her lately. Stefanie's opponent was supposed to be another newbie, but she flaked out on us. Ten years ago, on March 8, 2007, was my first shoot. I've got stories to tell about that, but first, let me tell you about today's update, Episode,556. Most of the footage from that first shoot was never published, because I was dissatisfied with the quality. As soon as I saw the footage, I immediately went out and bought a set of lights and a tripod. Also, I talked a lot during the games, commenting, and I was kind of embarrassed to hear my own voice. I thought I sounded pretty dorky, which of course I am but that doesn't mean I like hearing it.

But a lot of people over the years have asked to see more of Ashton and Mia, those two very first players. And after looking at (and listening to) the footage again, it's not that bad, even with my dorky commentary. And it seemed very appropriate to finally publish it on its tenth anniversary.

Ten years. Ten motherfucking years. I've been doing LostBets.com longer than I've lived at any one address, longer than I've worked for any one employer, longer than I've been with any one girl, longer than I've done pretty much anything other than breathing and metabolizing. During the last decade, I've tried many times to express how thankful I am to all of you, but this is a special occasion so I'm going to try it again. To all of you. To everyone who's ever bought a clip or subscribed to the membership site. To everyone who reads this blog and to everyone who posts on it. To the many, many people who've contributed great ideas for games, forfeits, and players. To all of you: you have no idea how deeply grateful I am. How lucky I feel to be able to do what I do, and how much I appreciate you who make it possible. 

It's a rare privilege to be able to make creative content that a lot of people like. It's even rarer to be able to make content that a lot of people are willing to pay for. You find my content worth spending your hard-earned money on, even in the sea of free pornography out there. That's incredibly humbling, and I'm not a humble man by nature. Every clip purchased and every subscription bought is a big compliment, and I've gotten thousands of compliments from all over the world. 

I haven't always been as diligent as I ought to be, especially when it comes to blog comments and emails, especially in the last couple of years. Well, I got a 3D scanner as well, sort of. It's actually just a Kinect, but it does a damned good job. The loser of this particular game had to let her nude body be scanned in three different poses. (Oh, um... spoiler.) The 3D models will be made available for anyone on the Internet to download for free and enjoy Stefanie's curves.

Speaking of Dreidel, I liked the idea of special holiday episodes so much, I did another one. Since the last one was for a Jewish holiday, I figured I should throw in ones for the gentiles as well, so look for that episode come Easter.

Sharp-eyed viewers will have noticed that I've been gone a lot lately, and also that there have been no POVs for the last few weeks. The reason for the latter is sinple: I ran out. We've published almost all the POVs we've got and I'm slowing the publication schedule until we can shoot more. As for the former, I've been pretty sick lately, which has kept me away. Hopefully I'm on the mend. Also, I've been distracted by girl troubles. If you're not having girl problems, I feel envious, son. I got 99 problems, and bitches are about six of them.

Long-timers will remember Bush's Last Day, when we sent President George W. Bush off with a girl losing her bush.
